Our Story
Born from a love of nature, adventure and timeless design.
It started with a shirt that wouldn't quit.
In 2019, we were living out of a truck in the Pacific Northwest. Everything we owned had to earn its place — including our clothes. And somewhere between the trailhead and the campfire, we realized we kept reaching for the same three shirts. One was a hand-me-down from a grandfather. The other two we had made ourselves, from a scrap of Portuguese cotton and a lot of stubbornness.
Rill & River began there. On a wooden porch, over lukewarm coffee, with a promise to make clothing that felt like an old friend from day one and lasted like a family heirloom.
What we stand for
Mission. Build fewer, better things. Make them last. Give people a reason to slow down and get outside.
Values. Craftsmanship over trend. Landscape over logo. Longevity over novelty. Nature always wins.
Craftsmanship. Woven in Portugal and North Carolina. Cut and sewn in small batches. Inspected by hand, one at a time.
We're just getting started.
Outerwear next season. A denim program in the works. A brick-and-mortar in the mountains someday. Same rules. Made in small runs. Made to last.
You bought a shirt. You joined a trail.
Every Rill & River order plants a tree through our partnership with the National Forest Foundation. So far, we've planted 47,000.
